Hello everyone!
This week has been a great one here in Ponceano. "Winter" has started a bit early this year, so it´s been even colder than usual and has been more stormy, but I would take the cold over heat any day!
Highlights of the week:
- Ate my first "crazy food", chicken gizzard soup! Haha it actually wasn´t bad at all!
- Got to visit the big city Quito to go to the mission offices. It´s sooo nice in the city and it was fun to get to eat at super nice bakeries!
This week I had an awesome experience with service. I would say about 35% of the people that live here are Venezuelan refugees, and we´re teaching one right now. She has 2 kids and they literally have nothing. She came to church with us last week, and the entire ward helped them out after they found out their needs. My comp and I got to go with the bishop to their house to drop off groceries, bedding, and lots of other basic necessities. I was choked up seeing how much compassion the ward had for them, because tons of them have been through similar situations as Venezuelan refugees. It reminded me of one of my favorite scriptures, in Mosiah 18:
8 And it came to pass that he said unto them: Behold, here are the waters of Mormon (for thus were they called) and now, as ye are adesirous to come into the bfold of God, and to be called his people, and are willing to bear one another’s burdens, that they may be light;
9 Yea, and are awilling to mourn with those that bmourn; yea, and comfort those that stand in need of comfort, and to stand as cwitnesses of God at all times and in all things, and in all places that ye may be in, even until death, that ye may be redeemed of God, and be numbered with those of the dfirst resurrection, that ye may have eternal life.
It´s so important to help others and be God´s hands here on the earth. Since He can´t be here, we need to do the work! I invite you all to find opportunities to help others, no matter how small the act of service may be. You never now how much help it could be!
I love you all and I hope y´all have an awesome week! Keep reading your scriptures!
Con amor,
