OTAVALOOOO

Hello from OTAVALO!  (where the indigenous live!) So, I guessed right, I got transferred to Cotama, which is in Otavalo!  Me and my comp are whitewashing, which means we are both new in the area, and we don`t know anything about our sector!  My comp is awesome, her name is Hermana Aníbarro and she`s from Bolivia! It`s so weird being here... I feel like I`m in an entirely different mission!  Everyone wears indigenous clothes here, they speak Kichwa, and they eat SO. MUCH.  Yesterday we had our first lunch with members here, and they fed me a huge soup with 2 potatoes in it and a chicken fat chunks (yes, just the fat, not the meat), and then they served me a HUGE plate with a mountain of rice, 5 more potatoes, and a bunch of chicken gizzard.  (The entire time the family was speaking in Kichwa, and I couldn`t understand a thing!)  I was STRUGGLING choking all the food down, and then after I finished they gave us another plate with cow stomach lining t...

Still Here!

Alóóóó! Well, last week was nuts, and this week was even MORE nuts!  One of the hnas we share a ward with got emergency transferred to the coast, and the rest of us still haven`t received our changes.  So, I still don`t know where I`ll be headed this week!  Until we get our changes, I`ve been in a TRIO with Hnas Jeppson and Achocalla, my 2 hijas!  So I`m double-training right now haha. I am really thankful for everyone who sent me supportive emails this week, it really means a lot!  The mission has been crazy, but I have learned a ton here.  I am so thankful God shows us the things we fault so we can learn to become better people. Better said in Ether 12:27-28, which sums it up: 27 And if men come unto me I will show unto them their aweakness. I bgive unto men weakness that they may be humble; and my cgrace is sufficient for all men that dhumble themselves before me; for if they humble themselves before me, and have faith in me, then will I make eweak...

Emergency transfers PART 2

Hello hello! To keep things short, between some major drama with me and my comp and the other Hermanas in our ward, and my new ward mission leader texting me last night telling me he was in love with me, I´m being emergency transferred to another area tomorrow.  President still hasn´t told me where I´m going yet, I find out tomorrow, so stay tuned to see where I go!  I have suspicions I´ll be headed to Otavalo, where all the indigenous people who speak Kichwa live... but we shall see! This week has been ROUGH and to be honest, my entire mission has been crazy and hard.  But I know I am supposed to be here for a reason, and I am learning so much about myself and about my Savior Jesus Christ.  I am so thankful for Him and for the Gospel in my life. I love you all and I hope y´all have a wonderful week! Con amor, Hermana Harris Pics: - Got to see Andreína and Andrés again at stake conference this Sunday! (they moved to my ZL´s sector after they got baptized)...

New year new me

Hello hello! Well everyone, it`s 2020 which means this year I come HOME?!  I have 6 months in the mission now and it`s weird to think how fast time has flown by!  This week was an interesting one for sure, not much to say other than that companionship issues spice life up a bit haha.  Sorry to not have much to say this week!  Keep reading your scriptures and praying! Con amor, Hna Harris Pics: - Started the year off right - contacting in the rain all day!  (Sounds like sarcasm but I promise it`s not haha!) - My cute llama friends - This one`s for you Olivia!!!  Before my mission she sent me a pic of swings on the top of a mountain in Quito, and told me I had to go!  We ended up going today.  You can`t see because it`s so high we`re in the clouds, but the swings overlook all of Quito! - Peppa!  One of the traditions here for New Year is to burn a paper mache thing called a muñeco to symbolize the end of the year. - Goodbye Peppa, h...
