It´s the Most Regular Time of the Year

Feliz Navidad everyone!

Well, to explain my title this week, lemme tell ya.  Christmas in Quito is super weird haha, it doesn´t feel like Christmas at all!  People here still listen to the normal spanish rap all the time, never Christmas music, but IF they do listen to Christmas music, it´s Venezuelan children´s songs that don´t sound Christmasy at all!  Hardly anyone has Christmas decorations, and there are no lights anywhere!  So hence why I say, it´s the most seemingly regular time of the year haha.

Some highlights from this week:
- My favorite thing is being mistaken as a Latina.  Happens all the time and I think it´s so funny.  This week I was talking with a bunch of gringos, and the senior missionaries come in.  The senior missionary Sister can´t speak spanish, and finally after all of us were speaking in Spanish for like 5 mins I think she got sick of it.  So she starts speaking in English and then turns to me and speaks really clearly and loudly, DO YOU SPEAK ENGLISH?  I laughed and then explained I´m from Arizona and just look latina hahaha.
- Got really sick this week and passed out at a member´s house at lunch.  I was so out of it when I came to that I started to respond to everyone in English as if they could understand me hahaha.  Good times good times.

It´s so special to get to be a missionary during Christmas time.  Don´t forget the reason for the season!  I am so thankful for my Savior and Redeemer.  He knows and loves each one of us, and really has felt all of our pains and suffered all of our sorrows.  Through Him we can have joy in this life!  Never forget that.

Con mucho amor,
Hna Harris

Pics:
- Wendy´s baptism!  She is Andreina´s neighbor but they recently moved to the Elder´s sector.  Hna Kohls and I taught her, and I got to go to her baptism this Saturday!  It was so good to see her again and see her after her testimony has grown even more.
- Santa already came to Ecuador
- Feliz Navidad!
- What happens when you step outside in the Quito rain for literally 2 seconds...
- My favorite thing about Quito: it´s usually cold here, but we still have all the tropical plants.  It´s funny, one one side of the road there are palm trees and the other side there are pine trees!

A dog bit me and I´m still upset about it

Good afternoon to everyone except to the dog that bit me :) Ok I´m being dramatic but YES I got bitten (bit? bitten? I´m forgetting english?) by a dog for the first time in my mission.  I was just walking along in the village, minding my own business, the dog was walking by us minding his own business, and then he just comes behind me and bites me in the leg and tries to attack us?!  The audacity.  Don´t fret though, I´m rabies free (so far) but I do have a pretty sweet bruise from it. #blessed Other than that, not much new stuff happened this week.  We got to stop by at Lesli and David´s (our miracle baptism) wedding reception for a minute, found someone to teach, and ate some weird animal parts like usual!  It´s been a good week here in Cotama (other than the dog bite...yes still being dramatic), and I get to go back to the city to QUITO for the day tomorrow for a dentist appointment!!!  Stay tuned to see if the toothac...

Still Here!

Alóóóó! Well, last week was nuts, and this week was even MORE nuts!  One of the hnas we share a ward with got emergency transferred to the coast, and the rest of us still haven`t received our changes.  So, I still don`t know where I`ll be headed this week!  Until we get our changes, I`ve been in a TRIO with Hnas Jeppson and Achocalla, my 2 hijas!  So I`m double-training right now haha. I am really thankful for everyone who sent me supportive emails this week, it really means a lot!  The mission has been crazy, but I have learned a ton here.  I am so thankful God shows us the things we fault so we can learn to become better people. Better said in Ether 12:27-28, which sums it up: 27 And if men come unto me I will show unto them their aweakness. I bgive unto men weakness that they may be humble; and my cgrace is sufficient for all men that dhumble themselves before me; for if they humble themselves before me, and have faith in me, then will I make eweak...

Temporary Reassignment

Hermana Harris did not know whether or not she would leave for Ecuador on August 19th, because she hadn't gotten her visa.  Today she got reassigned to the West Virginia Charleston Mission while she waits for her visa.  Because of the uncertainty about her travel plans, Hermana Harris along with her district, was allowed to communicate with us all week about their reassignments and changes in travel plans.
